Or Does He Have Another Agenda?

RIYADH, 12th November, 2023 (WAM) – The Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit concluded in Riyadh today.

The Summit emphasised on all resolutions of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation and the Arab League on the Palestinian Cause and all occupied Arab territories.

The Summit welcomed UN General Assembly’s Resolution calling for immediate, sustained Humanitarian truce leading to cessation of hostilities, which was adopted on October 26th.

The Summit emphasised that a just, lasting, and comprehensive peace is the only way to ensure security and stability for all peoples of the region and protect them from cycles of violence and war.

It also affirmed that it is impossible to achieve regional peace by bypassing the Palestinian Cause or trying to ignore the rights of the Palestinian people, and that the Arab Peace Initiative, which was endorsed by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, is a fundamental reference.
The Summit condemned all forms of hatred and discrimination and all proposals that perpetuate a culture of hatred and extremism.”

In the opening remarks, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) called for an immediate cessation of military operations in Gaza and the release of all captives and prisoners.

“This is a humanitarian catastrophe that has proved the failure of the international community and the UN Security Council to put an end to Israel’s gross violations of international humanitarian laws, and prove the dual standards adopted by the world,” he said.

Saudi-Israeli Deal

“Even if Hamas’s attacks on Israel were designed to derail a deal between Riyadh and Jerusalem, that may be just fine with MBS. Five years after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi, the crown prince has rehabbed his image in many world capitals just by talking.”

For the last three months, government officials in the US, Israel, and Saudi Arabia were preparing the world for a major breakthrough in the Middle East.

Under the deal, whose terms were still being hammered out, Saudi Arabia would have formally recognized the state of Israel in exchange for extensive security guarantees from the US and help building a civilian nuclear power plant. This would constitute a major turning point in the region, but it would also mark the complete turnaround of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman—or MBS, as he’s known—from international pariah, responsible for the murder of Saudi dissident and Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi, to an undeniably consequential world leader.

The surprise attacks by Hamas fighters on Israeli civilians, and the war it inevitably prompted, seems to have all but scuppered the deal, at least for years to come. Some analysts believe Hamas and its backers in Iran intended for the attacks to derail the talks. But MBS, who over the past five years has proven to be a deft navigator of crises, may have already achieved his goals without so much as the flourish of a fountain pen.

“He’s changed discussion to MBS and Israel, away from MBS and Khashoggi,” says Fadi Elsalameen, a longtime commentator on Israeli-Palestinian affairs and non-resident fellow at the Foreign Policy Institute at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies. “He can stop now and not do anything, banking this as a win.”

Jamal Khashoggi

The concentration of MBS’s power is also what makes a Saudi-Israeli deal even thinkable. His father, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, still holds the top job in the country, but he has delegated all strategic decision-making to his son, making him the de facto leader. Saudi Arabia is an absolute monarchy, where the leader can drive through any change he sees fit with few obstacles. That’s not to say pushing a deal with Israel is easy; Arabs have inherited a deep affinity with the plight of the Palestinians over generations, and alienating the population with a deal that doesn’t even consider the need for a Palestinian state would be difficult.

Under Donald Trump’s Abraham Accords, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Morocco, and Sudan agreed to normalize relations with Israel. But a Saudi-Israel deal would be a genuine game changer for the region. Saudi Arabia is the largest Gulf Arab state and arguably the most powerful country in the region thanks to its huge cash reserves and status as the home of the Two Holy Mosques. Recognition of Israel in Riyadh is the milestone Trump couldn’t quite close.

It may be that, by simply appearing open to the deal, MBS has been able to put Jamal Khashoggi’s murder behind him in the eyes of the diplomatic community and recast himself as the Middle East’s most consequential figure.

Revelation 13:2-4

And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast.
And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?

Mohammed Bin Salman holds a significant power and influence in the Middle East region, which has placed him in the spotlight of the world. However, his reputation suffered a significant blow in 2018, leading to many questions about his motives and intentions. Despite this, he remains a skilled businessman and has been successful in building relationships with various nations, both in the region and beyond. His actions have led to speculation about his true aims – does he genuinely seek peace or is he using these tactics to deflect attention from his tarnished reputation? Alongside his efforts to strengthen ties with the US and Israel, he has also sought to form alliances with Russia, China and other Arab nations, such as Iran, where tensions remain high. The impact of these events on YASHARAL remains unclear, but it is clear that this is a battle that belongs to YAHUAH, and trust in him is the key to navigating Biblical Prophecy. Keep Enduring YASHARAL our redemption draws nigh!
